Resort Exit Team: Ratings and Reviews: Check It Before You Exit Your Timeshare

For those looking for a timeshare exit company to escape from their vacation nightmare, you may have stumbled across Resort Exit Team. This company, based in Rockford, Ill., was one of many organizations that help customers get rid of their unwanted timeshares. Their name, while similar to the better-known Timeshare Exit Team, is not connected to that organization. They were also known to operate as Resort Release.

Who is Resort Exit Team and What Did They Do?

Based on our research, the company shut down and filed for bankruptcy in 2019. Their old website domain is no longer in use and is currently up for sale. The timeshare release company also has not had an active social media presence for years, last posting on Twitter and Instagram in July of 2018. 

In addition, Google Maps shows that their offices have permanently closed. Often after multiple customer complaints about being a timeshare scam, the FCC will close down timeshare companies that violate the law. Resort Exit Team appears likely to have been one of these companies. 

Their Better Business Bureau page has several alerts.

Those are a bad sign.

Resort Release has 2.42/5 stars from 50 reviews and they hold an F rating. Most of their reviews are negative, 1-star ratings featuring customers claiming the business was a scam. One review from Lori R. stated:

Organizations like this are prevalent in the timeshare business, so it pays to be cautious and do your due diligence before committing yourself to one company or another. If your timeshare exit company declares bankruptcy, it will be extremely difficult to get any of your money back unless you’ve chosen a company that utilizes escrow.
